Threading Hair Removal

The Art of Threading Hair Removal originates from many places including India and Egypt and the Middle East.

The technique involves the use of cotton thread being either held in the teeth or tied around the neck of the therapist and then held in one hand, where it is looped and the knot it creates slides easily across the skin, trapping the hairs completely plucking them out in straight lines, in a fast and fluid movement, removing them directly from the root, even the finest or toughest hairs can be removed using this method leaving an immaculate finish. The other, "Figure of Eight" method is where the thread is looped and twisted and held in both hands and the knot is moved across by opening and closing the fingers alternately.

This method leaves clean, accurate and defined eyebrows that look incredibly groomed and polished giving the face an instant face lift. This applies to the whole face leaving any problematic areas such as forehead, cheeks & jawline, sides, chin and upper lip clear of unwanted hair.

This is a natural treatment as it has very little effects on the skin. Unlike tweezering, sugaring and waxing, Threading does not remove layers of skin. It uses no harsh chemicals or creams, so it is especially beneficial if you suffer from sensitivites, acne etc.

What to expect during your Threading Experience:

You will have a full consultation with me to discuss your requirements & expectations, any medical history and possible contra-indications that may prevent or alter the treatment, such as skin infections, etc. I will explain in full about threading, and answer any queries you have. I will show you the progress throughout and you can at any point express your own preferences. I will use a combination of threading techniques, and where needed, tweezering and trimming with scissors to overly long hairs to make ensure you have the perfect shape.

People often ask if it is a painful treatment? I personally find it preferrable to waxing and tweezering, but everyone's pain threshold is different, I would class it more of a discomfort than painful, but rest assured this does lessen the more often you have it done.

After your treatment, you may see that there may be some redness to your skin, this is called Erythmia and is due to the dilations of blood vessels reacting to external stimulus to the skin. This is nothing to worry about, this is a perfectly natural reaction and will reduce in appearance a short while afterwards. During the course of the treatment you may notice there may appear the odd blood spot which is normal during depilatory (hair removal) treatments. Occasionally, there may be odd tiny nick caused by the thread, this can be caused by the client not holding their skin taught enough, or if the client moves or the Therapist is either not qualified or is rushing the procedure. Rest assured this will be a very rare occurance, and hopefully will never happen, but I like to be honest and prepare my clients for all eventualities and this will be explained more fully at your consultation to put your mind at rest.

After the procedure, the area will be wiped over with 100% Natural Witchazel or Aloe Vera Gel which act as a toner to close the open pores left by the hair removal, cool the area and reduce the reddening and help reduce any chance of infection as part of your aftercare.

As part of your aftercare, I will advise you on things to avoid and to be aware of to prevent infection.

To keep your facial hair in it neat and polished state it is advisable to have your threading done approximately every 2 weeks according to your hair growth patterns. As with all my treatment I offer a loyalty scheme, where you will receive your 10th treatment totally free!

Male Clients are most welcome as this is a fantastic grooming treatment, keeping your natural, masculine shape but losing the unruly hairs and can help reduce ingrown hairs that can occur with shaving.
